Announce that anyone can earn 15 pts. extra credit by attending the SHS production of "Romeo and Juliet." It runs this Friday and Sat. at 7:30; cost is $7. Take a picture of yourself in front of the stage after the play, or if you go on Saturday, I'll be there and will just automatically give you the extra credit.

Collect first 10 vocab pics

Take notes on themes in "Othello." IF YOU MISSED THIS CLASS, GETS THE NOTES FROM ANOTHER RELIABLE STUDENT.

At Sheldon, you received copies of "Othello" assignments till winter break, vocab words, and assignment for acting based on "Othello." IF YOU WEREN'T IN CLASS, but sure to pick up these 3 sheets from the box in the classroom. At South, you got these sheets on 11/8.

Get password and i.d. for submitting your Oedipus essay to turnitin.com. Here's that info again. Go to the Great Artist project website for help if you need to figure out how to upload your essay to turnitin.com, or email me. DUE BEFORE MIDNIGHT ON FRIDAY 11/12

Shakespeare's language and how we use it every day

Receive calendar of assignments for Othello, a vocab list, and an assignment for acting out parts of this play. If you didn't get these 3 handouts, be sure to find them in the handout box on top of the file cabinet.

Read beginning of Act 1 and view it on video

HWK: "Oedipus" essay due next class. Also, bring in projects work so you can work on your outline that I've talked about now for several classes. Read Act 1 up till at least the middle of page 33 (finish it if you can, but I won't quiz you on anything past page 33.)

Reminder: We'll use lit class to work on your projects outline on Tues (O) and Wed. (A) of next week. You must bring a copy of your thesis, print outs of web sources, and any books/mags you'll want to use in writing your outline.

Lesson on how to eliminate Run On sentences and Comma Splices! This is important! IF YOU MISSED THIS CLASS, gets the notes from a reliable friend. You'll need these notes when we have an open-note quiz on this.

Check out Shakespeare's "Othello" and learn background info.

MONDAY 11/1 (O) and TUESDAY 11/2 (A)

Announcement re: Tues. 11/9 and Wed. 11/10 -- On this day, our usual lit activities will be canceled, and you'll work in class on your outline for PROJECTS (not the "Oedipus" outline!). That means you should bring a copy of your thesis statement and printouts of web sources, as well as any books or journals that you're using to write your essay. Come prepared and take advantage of this rare opportunity!
